Key Features Of Our Wooden French Doors
Give Your Home A Touch Of Springtime
Elegance And Functionality
French doors are a charming alternative to sliding patio doors and bifold doors. They’re based on a style that is literally centuries old and has an understated elegance. French doors are usually associated with gardens or patios and have been used to open onto balconies as well.
Making French doors with wood is a time-honoured tradition. Timber has an inherently natural quality which is perfect for making the great outdoors feel closer. The rough texture contributes subtly to the overall effect and helps make the house feel like a home.
Alongside the undeniable aesthetic value, wood is also highly versatile. It can support plenty of glazing to bring in natural light and is a natural insulator. It’s easy to incorporate cat flaps into a wooden door so it is a good choice for pet owners, and we can even include side panels for extra light. Wood provides plenty of benefits in terms of strength, noise reduction, and more, so it’s no surprise that this style is a popular choice for homeowners in London, Surrey, and Kent.

Frequently Asked Questions
Our Most Common Queries
Why Are They Called French Doors?
French doors got their name because they first became popular in France during the Renaissance period. Their design actually comes from Italy, but they became widely associated with the French upper class and the name stuck.
Don’t Wooden Doors Have Problems With Rot?
This is a common question but we’ve taken every step to ensure that our doors don’t have this problem. We use carefully engineered timber and include waterproof DIN 4 glue is attach each layer (which is even stronger than the wood itself). This makes our wooden doors extremely resistant to weathering and warping and even after prolonged exposure to excessive rainfall, you’re unlikely to experience rot.
Are These Doors Ethical?
Yes, we take our environmental responsibilities seriously. All of our wooden doors and windows are made with materials from managed and certified forests.
Are French Doors And Double Doors The Same Thing?
Kind of. French and double doors are certainly similar and both comprise two panels that meet in the middle and open outwards. French doors are characterised by their extensive glazed areas, whereas the classic double door doesn’t have to include windows at all.
Can I Have Internal French Doors?
Yes, these doors are versatile and don’t have to be used as external entranceways. If you’d like to design a set of interior French doors, get in touch and we can discuss your options.
